Monolaurin

SKU HP0002
Monolaurin by Ecological Formulas. When used as a dietary supplement, Monolaurin protects the immune system from infectious agents (both bacterial and viral).

Viral diseases result from a series of growth cycles that kill or alter cells. The maximal goal of anti-viral treatment (to restore function to the infected cells) is usually unattainable because cellular macro-molecules are damaged in early viral infections. Accordingly, the realistic goal is to stop viral replication and thus prevent spread to additional cells. One major difficulty is the problem of inhibiting the viruses without harming the body's cells.

Monolaurin is an exciting product because its anti-viral properties enable selective use of an agent that is non-toxic to humans. Monolaurin works directly on the envelope coat of a virus. By disrupting the lipid bilayer, Monolaurin prevents attachment/absorption to susceptible host cells. The virus absorps the fatty acid from Monolaurin for its own replication, but winds up destroying its own protective coat.In a study performed at the CDC in Atlanta, Monolaurin was able to solubulize the enveloped membrane of 14 human RNA and DNA viruses, including Influenza, RSB, Rubeola (measles), Newcastle's (mumps), Coronavirus, Herpes Simplex types 1 and 2, Epstein-Barr Virus, and Cytomegalovirus. While Monolaurin is most widely used as an anti-viral agent, it also has beneficial effects against bacteria, yeasts and fungi, yet it is non-toxic to humans.

Monolaurin is not the type of nutritional supplement one has to take on a daily basis, but only when need arises. if one has a fever or swollen lymph glands, it is always best to see a physician, but if you sense the early warning signs of the flu (like sniffles, sore skin and perhaps a scratchy throat), Monolaurin may offer the first line of defense. Doctors often recommend taking 6 capsules on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, and for acute cases, 6 more at night. If you have a sensitive stomach, it can be taken with food. The dose can be tapered off as symptoms decrease. For those with chronic viral conditions such as Epstein-Barr or Herpes 1 and 2 (oral or genital), some physicians recommend taking 6 capsules when one has a flare-up, and 2 capsules as a maintenance dose during quiescent periods. One should always seek the advice of a physician in cases of fever and/or pain, or if symptoms persist.

Each bottle contains 90 capsules of Monolaurin 300 mg.
